District Standard Materials and Equipment
On February 26, 2009 the SBCC Board of Trustees approved and adopted Resolution Number 28, District Standard Materials and Equipment. This resolution allows specific materials and equipment to be incorporated into District public works as permitted by California Public Contract Code §3400. The District’s Board, by adopting the resolution, authorizes the District’s President/Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent / Vice President, Business Services (and such individuals or firms as they deem necessary or appropriate to assist them) to develop and issue a schedule of District Standard Materials and Equipment and, from time to time, amend the included materials and equipment. When the District subsequently solicits bids or proposals for projects that include standardized materials and equipment, then, pursuant to Section 3400, the District will need to describe in the invitation for bids or request for proposals that the District has made a finding that a particular material, product, thing, or service is designated by specific brand or trade name in order to match other products in use on a particular public improvement either completed or in the course of completion.
Although LEED certification or other green standards may or may not be a project requirement, SBCC is committed to designing and constructing all new buildings and major modernization projects following best sustainable practices. To the extent fiscally possible, consideration should be given to all aspects that could reduce the projects impact on the environment and on the current and future building occupants. Energy and water efficiency are high priorities and every effort should be made to make the project as efficient as possible.
Any questions regarding this information should be directed to the Senior Director of Facilities, Planning and Campus Development.
