CSU Transfer Planner

The CSU Transfer Planner is a free online tool that helps you track your progress toward transferring from SBCC to a CSU campus. Whether you are just starting out or already preparing to apply, the planner allows you to:

  • Explore CSU majors and programs

  • Plan your SBCC coursework with confidence

  • Monitor your progress toward CSU eligibility and graduation

Transfer Success Pathway (TSP)

The CSU Transfer Success Pathway is a dual-admission program designed to guarantee a spot at a CSU campus for eligible students.

Benefits of TSP:

  • Guaranteed admission to a participating CSU campus and degree program (if requirements are met)

  • Early planning with clear guidance

  • Support through your CSU Transfer Planner account

Eligibility:

  • You graduated from high school (or earned a GED) within the past year

  • You have not enrolled in college after graduation (other than dual enrollment in high school)

  • You apply between August 1 – October 31 of your first year at SBCC


Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT)

SBCC offers Associate Degrees for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) that are fully transferable to the CSU system.

  • Complete 60 units at SBCC (ADT) + 60 units at the CSU = Bachelor’s Degree (120 units total)

  • Guaranteed admission into the CSU system (though not necessarily to a particular campus or major)

  • Priority consideration in admissions

General Education: Cal-GETC

Transfer students are encouraged to complete the Cal-GETC general education pattern, which satisfies lower-division CSU GE requirements.

Work with an SBCC counselor to ensure your GE and major prep courses align with your target CSU.

Every CSU major has specific lower-division requirements. Use ASSIST.org to explore what classes you should take at SBCC. Counselors can help you create a personalized education plan.


Steps to Apply

  1. Attend a CSU Application Workshop or view an online tutorial

  2. Start your application on Cal State Apply

  3. Meet with an SBCC counselor for an application review before submitting

  4. Submit your CSU application during the filing period

  5. Attend follow-up workshops at SBCC to prepare for next steps
