Special Fee Updates during Academic Year 2020-2021:
MANDATORY TRANSPORTATION FEE:
Students meeting the following criteria will be charged the mandatory Transportation
Fee, which allows for unlimited ridership on Santa Barbara's MTD bus system.
Note: In response to operational challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, MTD
did not charge fares to the public during the 2020-2021 school year. As a result,
SBCC waived the Mandatory Transportation Fee for all registered students. MTD resumed
sales in time for Summer sessions and SBCC resumed charging the fee to provide students
unlimited ridership during their enrolled terms.
Effective Fall 2021, students meeting either of the following criteria will be charged the Mandatory Transportations Fee:
-
- Students enrolled in at least one on-campus course
- Students residing within the District (course may be either on campus or online)
MANDATORY STUDENT ACTIVITY PASS FEE:
Associated Student Body voted to increase to the Student Activity Fee from $5.00 in
Fall 2020 to a new fee of $8.00 effective Spring 2021. The additional $3.00 increase
is ear-marked for student initiatives directly related to Sustainability.
MANDATORY STUDENT REPRESENTATION FEE:
The Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) mandated a state-wide
increase to the Student Representation Fee from $1.00 in Fall 2020 to a new fee of
$2.00 effective Spring 2021. The additional $1.00 increase will go directly to support
the state-wide Student Senate organization. The SSCCC is recognized by the California
Community Colleges Board of Governors and Chancellor’s Office as the representative
of community college associated students organizations in accordance with Title 5,
§50002. The SSCCC represents the students of the California Community College system
in state-level shared governance and legislative advocacy. The purpose of the SSCCC
is to fulfill responsibilities regarding student representation, collaboration, accountability,
communication, and strategic advocacy.
NON-RESIDENT AND INTERNATIONAL TUITION:
This is a state-mandated fee. The fee decreased from $307 in Summer II 2020, down
to a new fee of $290.00 effective Fall 2020.
